Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested a suspected burglar identified as Promise Gbogimi.
Gbogimi was apprehended on Wednesday after he broke into a Tecno shop along Okoro Road in Obio/Akpor LGA at about 4.20am and stole different types of smartphones and laptops.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, the suspect, who hails from Deeyor in Ogoni, resides in Woji, Port Harcourt.
Omoni stated that the value of items stolen by Gbogimi was put at N8.7m, adding 19 smartphones, 15 IPads and two laptops were the goods taken away from the shop.
“The anti-robbery patrol team of the Miniokoro Police Station today (Wednesday) at about 0420hrs while on patrol, responded to a distress call and arrested one Promise Gbogimi ‘m’ 23yrs from Deeyor community in Ogoni but resides at Woji.
“He was arrested after breaking into a Tecno Shop at Okporo Road, where the following items were stolen; 19 different smartphones, 15 different iPads and different laptops.
“The cash value of the exhibits is Eight Million Seven Hundred Thousand Naira (N8.7m),” the state police spokesman stressed.
Omoni, however, disclosed that the shop owner, one Emmanuel Daramola, had identified the stolen items as belonging to him.
“The suspect is still helping the police to arrest members of the syndicate and will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed,” the state PPRO said.
