A lady suddenly started displaying madness on the road at Akindeko popular market, near Olaiya junction in Osogbo, capital of Osun state on Saturday evening.
Daily Trust correspondent stumbled on the scene, the lady caused confusion in the market for over an hour as there was no vehicular movement owing to the way she took over the road and obstructed traffic which caused traffic gridlock at the time of filling this reports.
The passers-by and onlookers including the commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as okada men and mini-township commercial bus drivers turned her to entertainer, watching her lunatic display as if it was a movie.
A Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) branch has just been discovered to be operating inside a beer parlour at Iyana School area of Ketu Lagos state.
The Prince of Peace Parish church of the RCCG church operates beside the beer parlour called Roseway. This alcohol joint records incidents of heavy smoking and romance by lovers too just like other conventional relaxation spots.
Top commenters on social media have found it worrisome that a big ministry like the RCCG under the leadership of Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye is sharing a space an alcohol joint where all manners of immoralities are committed.
Some reiterated that the location could be a vantage point to win the hearts of sinners for the Church.
First lady of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Grace Mugabe has said that her husband, Robert Mugabe is so much loved by his people to an extent that even if he dies, he will still be fielded as a candidate in a presidential election and Zimbabweans will still massively vote for him.
The 51 years old first lady, who now performs most of his aged husband’s presidential functions and is touted as his possible replacement said this during a rally by the ZANU-PF, the Zimbabwean ruling party.
“If Mugabe dies, we will field his corpse as a candidate for elections to prove that people love him.”
She told thousands of cheering supporters at the rally in Buhera, Eastern Zimbabwe.
“You will see people voting for Mugabe as a corpse. I am seriously telling you – just to show people how people love their president.” she added.
Grace Mugabe further echoed her husbands role during the guerrilla war against white rule, adding that Mugabe’s associates whom she accused of plotting to take over from him were too old to take power.
“Anyone who was with Mugabe in 1980 has no right to tell him he is old. If you want Mugabe to go, then you leave together. You also have to leave. Then we take over because we were not there in 1980.” She said.
92 year old Mugabe has increasingly become scarce in the public while the first lady increased her public engagements in recent months. Late last year, the first lady told a women congregation that she was ready to run for the presidency since she was doing everything for her husband.
Mugabe who is set to turn 93 on Tuesday has ruled the southern Africa nation since 1987 amidst a tumbling economy and poor human rights record. A popular pastor who last year led a popular protest against the Mugabe regime was recently arrested, and after he was released on bail he expressed interest in contesting against Mugabe in the country’s 2018 General election.
Though it is not yet clear how he will fare against a living Mugabe, it is much harder predicting how he will fare against his corpse.

I spent my childhood in Edo and Lagos states and it was a wonderful time for me. I am the first of five children, and I used to sing, dance and act from an early age. Back then, we didn’t have a television in our house, so my sisters and I had to entertain ourselves. My dad was also artistically inclined, so he often allowed us to express ourselves. I think that was the genesis of my career as an actor.
I studied Biochemistry at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, but I had always known that I would end up in the creative industry. I also attended the Royal Arts Academy, Lagos.
My first role was in a TV series produced by Fidelis Duker titled Eldorado. Over the years, I have featured in several other movies and TV productions including Hood Rush, The Choice of Aina, Finding Diamond Jo, Oko Ashewo, From Within, Misfit, David’s Fall, About to Wed and Flower Girl to name a few. Acting is a gift that is freely given by God; it is not something that you struggle for. I’m also constantly observing people, my environment and life in general as an artiste because I could be called upon at any time to replicate the behaviours or mannerisms of any of those people. I have never played any challenging role and I can work with anybody though I cannot stand people who do not have passion for the job.
I admire some talented and hard-working actresses such as Genevieve Nnaji, Joke Silva, Liz Benson, Meryl Streep and Edith Jane Azu. I love them because they have managed to remain at the top of their career by being consistent, dynamic and professional.
The production outfit, House 5 Productions, which I run with my husband, Daniel Emeka Oriahi, has produced about 10 movies including Beyond Blood, Jimi Bendel, among others. To get funding to produce those movies, I wrote proposals and submitted them to clients and investors.
One of the major challenges I face is accessing funds. Getting the proper facilities to support production could also be a Herculean task as there are no basic infrastructure like electricity, proper sets, and even crews.
I have had to do a lot of things to fit better into roles but I wouldn’t consider them as sacrifices. For the movie, Taxi Driver, I had to cut my hair. I have also had to kiss people on set.
During recession, people have more need for entertainment. Funnily enough, I shot more films last year than in the time of economic boom. I don’t know the mathematics or the reason behind it, but the recession has not affected the movie industry.
I first met my husband when I auditioned and was cast for one of his movies. He also attended a one-man stage play which I acted in and produced, after which he invited me for another movie role. We soon discovered that we are both down-to-earth people and share the same ideologies.
There is no way one can strike a balance between motherhood and acting. One of them would definitely suffer from time to time. However, I have been managing and I don’t think I’m doing badly. I take my daughter on set with me, and now she even understands when the director shouts ‘action’ and ‘cut.’ She has also acted in a movie with me. Considering that my husband is also in the same industry, we are able to make things work.
There have been some scandals attached to my name over the years but I don’t care. My family members know the real me, so they are not swayed by stories concocted about my person.
I can accept a script that has some aspects of nudity if it is tastefully done and is passing a message. Acting is make-believe and it is not a reflection of who you really are.
Fame has not robbed me of anything. I still do whatever I want to without inhibitions.
I know next to nothing about fashion, and I can wear anything provided that it fits me. I don’t have a beauty routine either; I just like to be simple and classy.
When I want to relax, I watch movies at the cinemas or in my house.
Residents of an unnumbered building on Adekoya Street in the Ilepa Area of Ikare Akoko, headquarters of Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State, have fled the house following a tragic incident that occurred at the place on Saturday, February 12, 2017 during the birthday party of a young man identified only as Azeez.
The celebrant, according to findings by Saturday PUNCH, had invited several of his friends over to the house on that fateful day for his party when the unexpected happened.
Azeez, as part of efforts to make the occasion interesting for guests, mixed a certain plant called ‘gegemu’ along with other substances to boost the alcoholic content of the local wine. Crisis was however said to have begun by midnight, several hours into the ceremony, when those, who drank the concussion started reacting negatively. By the dawn of the next day, two young men had died while several lay in critical conditions across various hospitals. One more victim passed away four days after the tragedy, bringing the number of the dead to three.
According to a resident, who asked not to be named, one of the victims identified as Kazeem Ogungbemi, was reported to have collapsed several times during the party before being rushed to a government-owned hospital where doctors’ strike and lack of personnel to attend to him cost him his life.
“We woke up on that day to learn that many of the boys who attended that party drank ‘gegemu’. I have never seen such a thing before in my life. They did not go for soft drinks but went for that type of harsh mixture that even adults too cannot stand.
“Before Kazeem died, he collapsed several times with blood gushing out of his mouth and nose. He died while being rushed to a private hospital following the non-response by officials at the government hospital,” the source said.
Relatives and neighbours of the victims refused to speak to our correspondent during a visit to the area on Thursday. A handful, who however spoke, refused to give their names or allow their photographs to be taken.
A middle-aged woman, whose son was revived the next day after the incident, told Saturday PUNCH that they were yet to get over the fear and shock the incident left them.
“My son has not been able to speak even though he is in a stable condition now. I have spent so much money trying to save his life and ensure that he is back to normal. I still cannot understand what is really going on,” the enraged woman said.
A youth leader in the community, Ibitoye Kehinde, told Saturday PUNCH that the incident still surprised many of them because it was the first time that such was happening in the town.
“I was surprised by the incident; we pray that this would not happen again. Azeez plucked the plant (gegemu) and soaked it inside water for seven days before mixing it with other alcoholic substances to make it appeal to guests. It was a deadly move which has thrown the entire community in sorrow,” he said.
When contacted, Public Relations Officer for the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Femi Joseph, confirmed that the drinks consumed by victims indeed contained toxic substances harmful to the body. He said that investigation into the matter had started and that they were on the trail of Azeez and his cohorts.
However, many women are worried about tightness and some new mums have opened up with searing honesty about the effects of childbirth on their vaginas.
“While the process of the baby coming down the birth canal should cause no lasting damage or structural changes to the internal vaginal structure, the way in which the baby is delivered can affect the vaginal opening. This has an impact on the appearance and sexual function after childbirth,” says a gynaecologist, Sally-Jane Cameron.
Sally-Jane notes that tearing, stitches and episiotomies all leave scar tissue that can be painful during intercourse.
Indeed, experts say the biggest strain on the pelvic floor muscles comes from pregnancy and not from the birth process itself.
Nine months of growth and pressure, regardless of delivery type, will affect how these muscles function, physicians insist; and everyone that has been pregnant has got some sort of change in the vagina ultimately.
The pelvic floor can suffer a prolapse, and you can pee into your panties when you laugh or sneeze hard.
However, research shows that women who delivered by Caesarean section do not experience significant difference in symptoms of incontinence when rated against women who delivered vaginally.
Incontinence is lack of voluntary control over urination or defecation.
Sally-Jane counsels that pelvic floor exercises do help a lot after delivery.
“Kegel muscle exercises are a must for every woman who is pregnant or has had children to tone the pelvic floor and vaginal muscles,” she suggests.
A-B-C- of Kegel muscle exercises
1. Find the muscles you use to stop urinating.
2. Squeeze these muscles for three seconds. Then relax for three seconds. …
3. Add one second each week until you are able to squeeze for 10 seconds each time.
4. Repeat this exercise 10 to 15 times per session. …
5. Don’t do Kegels while you urinate.
