Paraguay football legend, Roberto Cabanas has died after suffering a heart attack on Monday aged 55, his brother said.
The striker was a well known figure for top Argentine league side Boca Juniors and played alongside Brazilian legend Pele for the New York Cosmos in the 1980s.
“It is confirmed that my brother has died. He had a heart attack” in the Paraguayan capital Asuncion, Valerio Cabanas told local radio station ABC.
With his voice breaking, Valerio Cabanas said the player’s sudden death took the family by surprise.
“He didn’t have so much as a headache. He didn’t say anything to us” to indicate he was unwell, he said.
Known in his home country as “The Panther,” Cabanas played in the Paraguay side that won the Copa America in 1979.
At the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, he scored two goals against Belgium in a key group stages match.
He started out with Asuncion club Cerro Porteno before moving at the age of 19 to the Cosmos, where he lined up alongside Pele and Franz Beckenbauer.
He later played for America de Cali in Colombia, and for Brest and Lyon in France before arriving at Boca in the 1990s.
There he became a fans’ favourite for his skills and goalscoring and tough encounters with rival players in the Buenos Aires derby against River Plate.
“I have the great satisfaction of having played with two of the greatest footballers in the world,” he once said in an interview with a Paraguayan newspaper.
“When I was very young I arrived in the United States and played alongside Pele, and when I was older I went to Argentina and had the chance to be in the team with Diego Armando” Maradona at Boca, he recalled.
Valerio Cabanas said his brother’s remains would be taken to his native town of Pilar in southern Paraguay to be buried in line with the player’s wishes.

A Zimbabwean man identified as Innocent Chitsika, has been arrested on his wedding day.
Innocent Chitsika has accused his ex-wife, Resinita Chitsika of embarrassing him by planning his arrest during his wedding ceremony.
According to iHarare, Innocent Chitsika claimed that Resinita Chitsika orchestrated for his arrest particularly on the day he was tying the knot with his new wife as a way of degrading him. He was arrested on allegations of maintenance default.
He raised this complaint before civil court magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa when he applied for maintenance downward variation. Chitsika wanted the money to be varied from $300 to $80 for two minor children.
“Your worship I am no longer employed and I cannot afford to pay $300 per month as maintenance for the children. I was engaged as a cross-border trader but my travel documents are being held at the criminal court as part of my bail conditions. I was arrested on my wedding day for failing to pay maintenance.
“I was however paying maintenance and school fees for my children but I was using the wrong channel. I was paying school fees directly to the school instead of depositing the money into the respondent’s bank account,” said Chitsika.
He added: “As a result she got me arrested. I think what pushed her to do so was because of the bitterness which was caused by the fact that I was marrying another woman. What she was not aware of was that the wedding was sponsored by my wife since she has the money. I could not take part in the wedding preparations because I had and still do not have money. I am praying for a downward variation to avoid being arrested again. I do not have a source of income as it stands. What I know is that I can afford to pay $80 as maintenance for my children.”
Resinita however argued that Chitsika was doing quite well financially but was just not interested in taking care of the children. “If he can afford a white wedding I’m sure he can afford to spare $300 per month for his children. He has not been paying maintenance like he should because he is sating he is paying arrears. I have been struggling to take care of the children on my own. He has been neglecting his responsibilities yet he is applying for a downward variation. It is not fair on the children and certainly not to me. I pray that his application be dismissed,” argued Resinita.
Gofa dismissed Chitsika’s application citing that there were changes in his circumstances as he was not gainfully employed when his first order was granted. Hence there was nothing in the reasons he had given that warranted the granting of a downward variation.

During the protest of the alleged non-payment of their bonuses, some aggrieved workers of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) went completely n3ked.
This jaw dropping incident happened on Monday.

The aggrieved workers promised to continue with their protest until the state government listened to their demands and ensure that staff welfare was prioritised.
They warned that if by next week their demands were not met, they would occupy government house and the State House Assembly.

I am 29, my hubby is 35 and we’ve been married for 4 years and have 2 kids. My husband is a very good man and has been so kind to me and my family. My problem is he’s not good in bed and he knows it.
Earlier in the marriage, I thought I could deal with it but things changed and I started complaining. We talked a lot and decided to seek help but he became reluctant later. He could enter me when I’m completely dry, and I end up getting bruised. Other times, he could come barely seconds into the action.
I decided not to complain again but to bear with him and equally started developing interest in watch porn so to satisfy myself cos it’s something he never does. I became addicted to it and decided to tell him what was happening to me. He felt bad but still didn’t improve.
I then made up my mind to stop watching porn. It was very difficult but I was very determined to stop. It became my prayer topic. And God being so good. I was able to overcome it.
My issue now is, hubby still doesn’t satisfy me. Not like he was a virgin when we met, so he’s not quite new to it. I try to look my best, I keep myself very neat and presentable and try to look a bit seductive but it never arouses him. I’ve caught him once having a s*x chat with a lady but he claimed he never did anything with her.
I like s*x so I don’t always wait for him to initiate it. At times I just want us to lie in bed without nothing happening. Just cuddle in bed but that too is a problem. So I would rather be the one to wrap myself around him.
Please what do I do cause I’m becoming fed up. We have talked severally about it. He promises to work on it but he doesn’t. I don’t know what to do again. I need your advice…

A 22-year-old man identified as Dominic Ogbaji, an indigene of Cross River State, allegedly murder of his brother while he was sleeping.
According to the Daily Sun, the young man is now being held in police custody. Dominic, an indigene of Cross River State, is alleged to have killed his elder brother, 32-year-old John Ogbaji, while he was asleep, for not giving him pocket money. The gruesome incident happened on November 2, 2016, at Ajegunle in Mpape village, FCT Abuja.
Dominic came from the village to live with his late elder brother in Abuja, while searching a better source of income. Prior to relocating to Abuja, Dominic had been a barber but was not earning much and earnestly wanted a change. So John invited him to Abuja. Not long after he came to Abuja, he began to pester the brother to get him a job. The situation came to a head on the night of November 2, after the two siblings had eaten their dinner.
Recalling the chain of events that led to the death of the deceased, Dominic told Sunday Sun reporter: “I came from my village to stay with my sister but she referred me to my elder brother. When I got to his place, I told him I needed a job, but he couldn’t get me a job in Abuja. Rather, I was just staying with him. He was giving me food but not pocket money. Life was so difficult for me, I left my village thinking I would get a job in Abuja. Then, on the night of November 2, he gave me N60 to buy bread for us to eat and water. Later I told him I wanted to go back to the village and would need about N4000. We ate the bread and later watched television together.
“In the middle of the night while he was sleeping, I took a cutlass from under the bed and cut his throat. After killing him, I took N10,000 from his pocket and his phone and ran home, to Cross River.”
The shocking incident was discovered by a lady in the compound who wanted to charge her phone in the deceased room, who saw the corpse and raised alarm that attracted the neighbours, who reported the matter to the police.
The police then informed relations of the deceased and also launched a manhunt for Dominic, as suspicion of his involvement in the death of his elder grew. Meanwhile, the mother of the two brothers had heard that her younger son had killed the elder brother.
Dominic, unknown to him that news of his heinous act had reached his mother, got to the village and was received by the mother. Thereafter, she immediately got him bound and transferred to the police, from where he was returned to Abuja, for interrogation.
In the course of the intense questioning, he cracked and spilled the beans on how and why he killed his elder.
“I regret killing my brother because I was hungry and needed pocket money, so the devil pushed me to the evil thing I did,” Dominic said.
Mustapha assured that Dominic would be charged to court soon, to stand trial for alleged murder.
The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on Sunday said at the 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration Service in Abuja, those killing in the name of religion in the country were insane.
Osinbajo said those who claim to kill in the name of religion were deceivers.
The Vice President commended the Armed Forces for their success in the North East.
He said, “We remember our departed military heroes. Against the Boko Haram, they stood side by side and fought the insurgents. The President said and I quote, ‘The military that I joined never recognised tribe or religion, we fought side by side. We must never be deceived by those who kill in the name of religion. Anyone who kills another, and says God is great, is insane. He does not understand what he is saying.’
“Today, we celebrate our fallen heroes. We do so with the wisdom of the scriptures. The battles they fought against are the battles to ensure that good prevails over evil in Nigeria.
“Many of our soldiers died in the North-East. At some point, this evil ideology of the Boko Haram had taken over 14 Local Government Areas in this country, before the military engaged them and won.
“Soldiers occupy a special place in the gospel of Jesus Christ. The military profession is the only profession to which the saints are compared.”
