Christmas Expenses Pushed Me Into Stealing – Suspect Who Stole His Boss’ Car (Photo)

A 24-year old driver accused of stealing his boss’ car, TVs and a pet dog, has confessed that Christmas needs of his siblings pushed him into the stealing.

The suspect, Abass Ope, from Ogun State was arrested at Ojuelegba area of Lagos by the Decoy Team of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the State Police Command, on last year Boxing Day.

He was picked up by the Police while trying to sell off his ex-boss’s Toyota Avensis 2013 model with the registration number AGL 734 AR for N2 million.
Arrested along with him were three of his friends: Balogun Oluwaseun (23); Sanni Azeez (23) and Stephen Ewiele (22).christmas-expenses-pushed-me-into-stealing-suspect-who-stole-his-boss-car-photo-1

Abass had during Christmas period stormed his boss Magodo home while he and his family were holidaying in Delta State, with a conspirator to move a 100 inches LCD TV, another 42 inches LCD TV, a dog, a suitcase, 2 DSTV decoders and a Toyota Avensis, from the home.

It was learnt that the suspect invaded the home of his ex-boss after learning that he had travelled to Delta State for the Christmas holiday, and that the gatekeeper had also gone to church.

Our source said that the suspect was aware of where his boss usually kept keys to his rooms which made it easy for him to commit the crime.

It was revealed that his ex-boss, on getting report of missing vehicle and property called the suspect on more than two occasions to intimate him of the development but he denied knowledge of the incidence.

The source further added that the boss had to cut short his holiday in Delta with his family to report the incident at Magodo Police

The source added that he was shocked when an official of the RRS called him to notify him of his recovered vehicle because, he never reported the theft in RRS office.

According to Abass, “I took the car because I had no money to take care of myself and younger ones. They had no clothes, no shoes and this is Yuletide season. They looked up to me to take care of these expenses…. It was about three months now that I left Mr. Ekinodo (his former boss). I had worked for him for four years before leaving him on August, 2016. I left because he had a little challenge and things were pretty tough for him. I left so that he could have himself sorted out.”

He continued; “he was a very nice boss to work with. He enrolled me into University but I couldn’t continue the education when I left him. While he had this challenge, he owed me 8 month salary; this prompted me to take his property and the vehicle.”

He added, “the auto dealer wanted to pay N2 million for the car but I insisted he pays N4 Million because I know it is worth more than that.… He offered me N1million instantly and that the balance would be ready in about few minutes time, but I decided to ignore the offer hoping that the dealer would call me back for a re-negotiation…. I went back to Ojuelegba few hours later in company of three of my friends, that was when RRS operatives arrested us.”
According to Ekinodo Ifoghale, “I am in shock. This is a guy I treated like a son. Apart from my wife, he was the closest person to me. This is a guy that did my shopping for me. Even, before I buy anything for myself, I bought for him first”.

“How can I owe him 8 months’ salary when he never worked for me in those periods? Did he inform me that I owed him? He was never in my house in the periods he claimed.… I called him more than twice when I got the report of the break in. He told me he knew nothing about it. If he had told me he needed money, I would have given him because we were still very close despite the fact that he was no longer working for me,” he added.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police, SP Dolapo Badmos, advised members of the public to always do a background check of their domestic servants so as not to expose themselves to criminals.

The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID)Yaba, for further investigation.

Cultists Attack Akure Primary School, Burn Head Mistress Office

Arsonists suspected to be cultists have burnt a section of a popular Muslim primary school located at Isinkan Street in Oke Aro area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The government-owned school, said sources, was invaded around midnight by cultists said to have been terrorizing the neighborhood.cultists-attack-akure-primary-school-burn-head-mistress-office-3

The invaders burgled the office of the headmistress of the school, carting away useful documents and electrical appliances after which they set it ablaze.
The headmistress, Mrs. Ale Ebunoluwa, confirmed the attack to SaharaReporters, saying huge damage was caused to school properties.

She told SaharaReporters that residents of the area where the school is located and have children in the school called her attention to the midnight fire attack. Mrs. Ebunoluwa said her personal office was burnt along with relevant documents.cultists-attack-akure-primary-school-burn-head-mistress-office-1

“I was called at midnight that some hoodlums had attacked and set the school ablaze, while they also destroyed and damaged properties in the office.

“I was helpless and quickly called the attention of the board to the incident and I think they also called the police immediately to intervene, but the arsonists had escaped,” she said.

She described the act a barbaric, adding that the government and security agencies have been informed of the development.

SaharaReporters was informed that before the suspected cultists attacked the school, they had attacked a compound in the area and made away with residents’ belongings.cultists-attack-akure-primary-school-burn-head-mistress-office

Sources in the area said the cultists are aged between 17 and 28. They are also said to be mostly school drop-outs, who were initiated by gangsters.

A resident, Ayomide Adeleye, told SaharaReporters that a cult gang has been using the primary school as a hideout to terrorize the neighbourhood.

The resident said the invaders found it easy to attack the school because it has no security arrangement.

“As you can see (pointing at the gate) there is no security inside the school and the fence can easily be scaled even by little children. “So, some of these street boys have access to the school since there is no one to caution them, and they go in there to smoke marijuana,” he said.

He further explained that officials of some security agencies have visited the school and currently investigating the incident.

Mr. Kole Ibitoye, Chairman of school’s Parents/Teachers Association (PTA), who also visited the school, called on the police to find the perpetrators. “Our children and teachers are now preparing for resumption, I wonder where they would use for learning since some of their classes, and the offices have been set on fire,” he told SaharaReporters.

Nigerian Police Force Has Merged With APC – Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, has described the sack of six police officers attached to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike as “the height of political victimisation by the All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government just because the policemen were among the patriotic Nigerians who foiled the attempt by the party to rig the Rivers State rerun elections.”
Governor Fayose, who described the six police officers as heroes of democracy, said “their names will be written in gold in the comity of defenders of the people of Rivers State and whenever normalcy returns to our body polity, they will surely regain their job.”

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose questioned the police authority on what it has done in respect of the Police officers that Nigerians have seen on videos, hijacking ballot boxes.

“Funny, they claimed that the six police officers, while in the convoy of Governor Wike misused the firearms in their possession and I have asked myself, who did they shoot with the firearms said to have been misused?

“The policemen simply did their job by protecting their principal and punishing them for performing their duties can only be meant to discourage policemen from protecting Governor Wike and other opposition Governors.” The governor also challenge the police to tell Nigerians the report of its investigations on the murder of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mohammed Alkali, and his driver during the Rivers State rerun elections.

He said; “Since Christian Chukwuemela Ekikeme, a member of the gang that killed DSP Alkali, and his driver reportedly linked a certain Mr Kachi Nwokocha, who is a top member of the APC and an aide of the Minister of Transportation and immediate past governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi as sponsor of the gang, the police has been silent on the murder.

“Up till today, the man mentioned as the sponsor of the gang that allegedly killed the DSP has not been questioned by the police.

“Why didn’t the police handle the murder of DSP Alkali and his driver with the speed of lighting that it handled the dismissal of the six police officers?

“Why are Nigerians not being told anything about the murder and the involvement of an APC chieftain just the way the police paraded the six police officers?”

He said “it is sad that instead of focusing on those who killed its men, the police is now acting as an arm of the APC by punishing whoever acted against the wish of the vindictive leaders of the party.”

READ What Atiku Said About Pastor Adeboye’s Retirement

Former Vice President and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has described Pastor Enoch Adeboye as a unique example of inspirational leadership, saying Nigeria needs more religious leaders in the mold of the clergyman.

Atiku said Adeboye’s “influence cuts across tribe, class, and even religion”.

“Pastor Adeboye is the kind of religious leader I pray that we see more of in Nigeria. He is a man beloved, and who loved one and all without discrimination”, said the former vice president.

While he praised the religious leader’s influence on multitudes of Nigerians over the past four decades in his former position, the former vice president said; “Some of the most prominent personalities Nigeria has been blessed with have been those who learnt from the pulpit of Pastor Adeboye. A most recent example is our current Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.”

He also hailed the several efforts of Pastor Adeboye, which clearly went beyond the normal expectations for a preacher, such as his active participation in the war against HIV/AIDS in Nigeria which saw the G.O. feature in an anti-AIDS advert that was aired on national television.

In addition, the former Vice President hailed the role that the G.O. has played as a converging figure for other religious leaders in Nigeria, many who openly attended his services or consulted with him despite being of different denominations
